Jerry Nadler was caught on camera saying that the Antifa present in Portland’s 50+ nights of violent protests is but “a myth that is being spread only in Washington D.C.” That statement is dangerous and dismissive, considering the current state of the city. The far-left militant group continues to perpetrate violence and provoke federal authorities to respond.
House Judiciary Committee ranking member Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, appeared on Fox News on Monday to state his reaction. In response to Nadler’s statement, Jordan said, “It’s scary that Jerry Nadler says that. The chairman of the Judiciary Committee, the committee that’s supposed to look out for the rule of law. The committee that’s supposed to be concerned about the Constitution and protecting basic rights and liberties. Antifa, a terrorist organization, is anything but a myth.”
According to Fox News’ report, Antifa has no organizational hierarchy or a formal membership process. Most autonomous Antifa groups reside in left-wing cities. The Antifa do not fix things through formal, legal processes or do speech or debates. They ‘solve’ problems through direct and physical confrontations and demands.
Rep. Jordan said, “Remember, it was just three-and-a-half weeks ago when Mr. Nadler [was] on the House floor to debate with us [and he] said Antifa is imaginary, so at least he’s consistent. He’s consistently wrong about this terrorist organization that President Trump has rightly called a terrorist organization.” He then enumerated instances of violence that took place in Portland.

Fox News 10 documented the protests since May 26. Last week, protesters were shining lasers in cops’ eyes and throwing fireworks at a federal courthouse, also injuring police officers. Three of them were told that they might never recover their vision. As he said this, Jordan told Fox News, “Go tell the officers who’ve been blinded, the officers who’ve been attacked. Ask them if Antifa is a myth or an imaginary organization.”
He also cited Andy Ngo, the conservative writer beaten in a rally in Portland. The writer allegedly suffered a brain injury after being assaulted by Antifa one time. He was also pelted with a milkshake. Jordan said, “Ask Andy Ngo, the journalist who was attacked in Portland over a year ago. If they are an imaginary organization or some kind of myth.”
“They are very real, and they are very dangerous.”
As stated on NY Post, “A federal agent’s hand was impaled by planted nails, another federal agent was shot with a pellet gun, leaving a wound deep to the bone, and tragically, three federal officers were likely left permanently blinded by the rioters using lasers pointed directly into their eyes,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters Friday.
All five of the injured federal agents were hurt Monday during ongoing protests at the Multnomah County Justice Center and a nearby federal courthouse in Oregon’s largest city.”
It’s unclear if the officers have recovered from the laser pointing, or if they’re still struggling or have been officially declared blind.
