President Donald Trump has publicly denied a story posted by CNN/NYT and referred to the network/story as “Fake News.” The story suggested that Trump wanted to be added to Mount Rushmore.
CNN posted the story on their Twitter feed with the following caption: “White House reached out to South Dakota governor about adding President Trump to Mount Rushmore, New York Times reports.”
It seems like CNN used information from NYT to craft this story, which ended up getting slammed by the president.

Here’s what Trump wrote in response:
What we need now is for Kristi Noem to speak out and give her side of the story. Does she have a name of the White House aide who allegedly reached out? Does CNN or NYT have a name of this so-called White House aide?
That part, I have no idea, but I won’t hold my breath over it.
Maybe it did happen. Maybe it didn’t. However, there’s a pretty good chance that if Trump says it didn’t happen, that it probably didn’t happen.
And this is something so petty and pointless. This isn’t a criminal accusation, this is a Mount Rushmore story, so there’s literally no reason for anyone to lie about it.
It’s not like anyone would actually care if this story was real – if a president wants to be on Mount Rushmore, that’s because they find it to be an honor to be there.
However, in Trump’s case – anything he says, or even anything he maybe didn’t say, will always be used against him by the people on the far left.
By the way, I’d like to be on Mount Rushmore too. I think it would be cool to have my face up there for the whole world to see. Unfortunately, CNN and NYT won’t run a story on me because I look like this:
